Mr. Dwayne Hurd
Karate class has been a
great help to Dwayne in his personal life. Both
his father and mother have passed away from cancer, and
karate was a way to help Dwayne deal with the personal
issues and struggles that one encounters. Dwayne
says, “I could go to karate class and forget all about
what was happening at home. Doing my ‘forms’ or
‘patterns’ in karate class helped to keep me focused.”
“When you think you know it
all…well, think again! One can never know it all
in karate or jukido class! There is much more to
karate, jukido, and martial arts than just hitting or
kicking someone. Martial arts gets into one’s
soul, and in your mind…and that is where I’m at right
now! It becomes a personal quest…a journey!”
Mr. Hurd graduated from
Greenfield-Central High School. He works full
time at Home Depot in Greenfield, Indiana, and is
currently training for his third Dan
(3rd degree Black
Belt).
For fun, Dwayne does “tandem” skydiving with his
instructor, and World Record Holder Jay Stokes, about
2-3 times per season at Skydive Greensburg!
Dwayne has overcome many obstacles in his life
and continues to exemplify the best that Tae Kwon Do
Karate has to offer.
